Objective

the   Ideology

Stereotypes are re-generated by various factors & false knowledge.

As an anthropologist I practice  something called participant observation. Basically it means that one tries to understand how something as complex as a culture within geographical parameters ¨comes to be¨, but instead of reading just books or articles about the area of interest one starts living ¨there¨ and tries to get to know the people.

Just imagine yourself going on a trip but instead of staying for a short period of time you decide to stay in ¨vacation land¨ for an extented period of time. Maybe you already know the spoken language(s) of its inhabitants or maybe not. This does not stop you but motivates you to learn their language. And if you are tolerant towards their homeland, friendly and not a judgemental ¨tourist¨ towards their culture you will end up having a great time: Along the way you get to meet new acquaintances who lend you a helping hand because they see that you are keen to understand their land and are kindhearted to show you around and explain things to you which are foreign.

So did this ever happen to you as a tourist? Well, I hope it did and if not you should consider to keep an open mind when you are exploring the world.

Anthropologists try to practice this open mindness but unfortunately in the past many books were written about the ¨explored¨ people. Why explored? Instead of writing about their culture objectively many monographies are quite judgemental and even use degenerative language towards the people they studied (embedd the researchers in the historological context).

The field of Anthropology itself has undergone a change and as a researcher I aim to write articles in cooperation with the inhabitants of Sudan. Precisely, trying to ¨set things right¨ considering how much false information is conveyed about Sudan and its society.

That is the reason why I am trying to create a plattform of knowledge about Sudan. Of course, streotypes can´t be avoided but at least you will have a ¨true¨ insight into Sudan thanks to it “future” contributers.
